Each year in the spring training turns to preparation for upcoming wildland season. Here the crew from Engine 75 is conducting Tuesday night drill with reserve members of the department. This training consists of being able to rapidly lay out hundreds of feet of one-inch hose in what is called a “Progressive Hose Lay”. Each firefighter carries two hundred feet of one-inch hose and assorted fittings. This technique is used to deploy from an anchor point onto a flank or side of a grass fire and halt or restrict the fires progression.
