Depending on how many years your carbon monoxide detector is designed to last, some carbon monoxide detectors purchased in California (beginning in 2011, when it became state law to have CO detectors in all single family homes) are reaching the end of their useful lives. There is an expiration date printed on the back of CO detectors and they will beep when it’s time to replace the unit. Don’t ignore the beeps!
